Novelda Map: Above is a map of Novelda, a Costa Blanca inland town which is famous for its production of marble and granite dug from local mountains and cut and polished in the town's factories.
Novelda Costa Blanca: Novelda is a located within the province of Alicante, in the Middle Vinalopó district. Novelda is well known for its production of marble, grapes and trade in spices (especially saffron), the town had 27,104 inhabitants in 2010.
Novelda History: Originally a Moorish town, Novelda grew around the Mola Castle (Castillo de la Mola) which was built by the Muslim Almohads in the 12th century. Conquered for the Christians by the Castilians in the 13th century, Novelda became part of Valencia in the late 13th century, and in the 14th century was given to Mateo Gornay by Peter the Ceremonious (King of Aragon). The population of Novelda mostly consisted of Moors until they were expelled in the early 17th century causing a major decline in population and loss of prosperity.

Novelda Places to Visit: Modernista Museum (Casa Museo Modernista) in Calle Mayor, Castillo de la Mola (Mola Castle), St Mary Magdalene Sanctuary, in the Modernist style (bearing a likemess to the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona) by pupil of Gaudi, Jose Sala Sala.
